After BHS, I went to Brown and then worked as a VISTA in Colorado. After that, in 1975, I went to law school at U.C. Berkeley and enjoy the perks of California living, including lots of skiing, bicycle riding, hoops, and more than my fair share of Grateful Dead concerts.
After law school, I worked as a legal aid lawyer until 1986 - representing low income folks in a variety of civil cases and, eventually, running a law program serving senior citizens. Since 1987, I have worked as a plaintiffs' lawyer in San Francisco, representing employees and workers in a variety of discrimination, employment termination cases, and other workers' rights cases. For the past couple of decades, I've spent the bulk of my professional time handling class actions on behalf of workers deprived of overtime pay by their employers.
More significantly, in 1987, I got married to Elaine Leitner. We have two children - Ariel, who is about to start law school, and Jake, who is working in San Francisco.
Right now, I'm spending more time on non-profit boards, doing lots of bike riding, doing as much skiing as I can get in, and learning to play the saxophone (participating in some local blues jams). I've also done some writing lately.
I've been on some fun and interesting trips the past couple of years, including a 28 day trek in the Dolpo region of Western Nepal, a trip to Brazil for the world cup, and a month in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos).
