40th reunion tidbits

So let me be the 1st to say, here, what a great evening it was. All the committee worked so hard & their efforts are so appreciated. It was wonderful to see everyone. I hope we all continue with good health & I look forward to seeing everyone again at the next reunion. Let's try hard to find more amongst the "missing", especially for those that have never participated. They missed a good time. For those who did attend, please share & post your thoughts. Not everyone wishes to twitter nor facebook. Here's a great way to share. Later, Jo Anne

Anyone who has joined the website can participate in any of the discission forums. Just go to the "Elementary Schools" webpage and select Driscoll. Either create a new topic or respond to an existing one.

I am on board with Laurence and Judy, we were 23 plus Lizzie who didn't last long. It was Robinson "Lacy" no e in it. Last time I saw him was in San Fransico when he was at Berkley and I was at the Little Fox Theater. I believe he is an attorney in NYC. I e-mailed him but got no response.

I believe Laurence's (still Larry to me) facts are correct, although I am not sure Lizzie Beckart went all the way through with us. Also, contrary to what Eddie said in an earlier post, we were at Heath for 3 years starting in 5th grade, not 4th, and we moved to Driscoll for 8th grade.

Yes, I thought there were 23, too. But if I'm not mistaken, there's also Edie Geronimous, Martha Podren and Lisa Bekhart. That's 24. Hmmmm. I think Walter Faxon left at one point and Joe Rothschild joined late... so maybe that explains it. By the way, you've got a minor mispelling for Elaine Pinchas. She wasn't from Israel. ;-) I think it's Pinches.

Ethel Yood taught 23 of us 4th and 5th grade at Heath. This was the "Experimental Class" Then we were moved with her to Driscoll for 7 and 8.

Reminder Devotion mini reunion Oct 1st.

We are planning an informal Devotion School reunion on Friday October 1st. The BHS '70 reunion is Saturday and this Friday get-together will start the party one day earlier. We will gather at The Coolidge Corner Clubhouse, 307 Harvard Street at 7:00 PM.

We are still missing many email addresses. If you are in contact with any of our classmates, please pass the word about this get-together.

That would be really neat. But I am on sabbatical this year in Paris and Oxford (my first-ever sabbatical, for various reasons); and doing that doesn't leave time or money for flying back. It's great of you to host, and please give my best to others. Hoping you have a great time,

I decided it's time to chime in and say hello to you all. I need to update my profile but will share some memories I have of our 4 years....I had such difficulty memorizing and performing in front of people that rather than having a part in the play, I provided the welcome and introduction to the Midsummer Night's Dream performance. This was performed at Baker where someone I knew in a class there told me that their teacher had raved about the performance except for the girl who did the introduction and read every word off note cards. Oh well. I hated memorizing the poems as well. My daughter, Rebecca, loves acting and was Puck in an adaptation of this at her summer program last year. (I'm probably the oldest first time mom in our class -- Becca is 11 now.)

I do, however, remember Francois Villon's Ballade des Pendus -- Freres humaines qui apres nous vivez, nayez les cours contre nous endourci ... weird! I remember the 23rd psalm en francais, aussi.

I remember Miss Benmoshe (sp?) an Israeli who taught math in 7th grade maybe?

I also remember the first day of school, when we were told to find partners for a tour around the school and I knew no one in the class being the only kid from Pierce and Gail Prager came over and asked me to be her partner -- thanks Gail!

I also remember being terribly intimidated in history and geography because of Julio and Rob in particular who seemed to know everything.

As I said, my late father-in-law was a Devotion School Graduate, so we would occasionally sing the song much to the annoyance of those around us! It is something that is not easily forgotten as far as I'm concerned.
